AcousticSheep LLC was founded in 2007 by Dr. Wei-Shin Lai, a family physician, and her husband Jason Wolfe, a video game developer. Dr. Lai struggled with getting back to sleep after patient phone calls in the middle of the night. She needed to listen to some meditative music to help her relax. But headphones were bulky, and ear buds were uncomfortable. Since there were no headphones specifically designed for sleeping on the market, she invented her own.
They worked so well for her that she decided she had to offer them to all of her patients taking sleeping pills. Her husband soldered and she sewed the first 500 pieces themselves on their kitchen table. Initial feedback was phenomenal. One lady was able to come off of sleeping pills after taking them for 10 years. Another saved her marriage because she could finally sleep in the same bed as her snoring husband. Dr. Lai and her husband decided to patent their invention and start a real business. They completely sold out in their first year.
Open Position - Sales Support
Excellent administrative, clerical, record-keeping and computing skills are essential for the sale support role. Employee must also demonstrate attention to detail so that they enter customers' requests accurately and issue clear instructions to other departments. Sales support professionals must have good interpersonal skills to deal with customers and collaborate with other departments in the company, such as marketing, fulfillment, and accounting. They require excellent customer service skills to enable them to deal politely and effectively with customers’ inquiries or complaints. Sample tasks include:
• Processing new sales leads
• Managing the correspondence between the sales team and their clients
• Monitoring customer accounts
• Providing data and reports to help the sales team
• Keeping track of sales targets
• Answering phone calls
• Scheduling
The sales support employee carries out a number of functions to help sales representatives do their job more effectively. Employee contacts customers and prospects to arrange appointments or to update them on the status of an order or a delivery. They provide sales representatives with details of customers’ orders and requests for quotations, and make them aware of any problems likely to affect customer relationships. They handle telephone calls or acknowledge customers’ e-mails or letters for representatives who are away from the office. Sales support employees may also arrange travel or accommodation for sales representatives and process their claims for business expenses.
Order administration is an important responsibility of the sales support team. They handle incoming orders from sales representatives or via mail, telephone, e-mail and online ordering. They enter details of the order on the company’s computing system and check that it includes the correct price, discount level and product requirements. They check stock availability or production schedules and forward the order details to production and distribution departments. They send an acknowledgment to the customer and email or phone with updates on order fulfillment and delivery.
Sales support employees create and maintain customer records, updating details when contacts change or when customers request quotations or place orders. They also log any customer problems or complaints on the record so that sales representatives and managers have a complete picture of the customers’ interactions with the company. Responsible for the general administrative tasks that include: basic bookkeeping, send relevant information to Sales and Account Managers, conduct pre-verification checks, answer e-mail inquiries, conduct different checks as needed among other functions. • Ability to work directly with prospect and/or customers
