PMC的历史
1990年，任职于BBC广播公司Mr. Peter Thomas 和任职於FWO Bauch(英国一家居领导地位的专业音响设备代理商)Mr. Andrian Loader(於1997年逝世)一起成立了PMC。结合喇叭单体以及对音乐的专业知识，他们制造出第一组世界上最大，使用低频传输线式设计之录音室专用主动式监听扬声器-BB5/XBD，它的优异声音表现和其惊人外观完美契合。
这组BB5主动式监听扬声器由伦敦BBC Maida Vale MV4 号音乐录音室所使用，其主要工作是负责1号广播网(BBC共有1、2、3、4、5等5个广播网)的广播?听工作；第二组 BB5系统则是安装於同一处的 MV3 号音乐录音间，而2号广播网大部分的工作皆於此录?。如今，PMC这款旗舰级扬声器仍然?世界级的?听扬声器?标，位於纽约的Sony录音室、盲人歌手Stevie Wonder所属的惊奇地(wonderland)录音室、伦敦Metropolis录音室；以及著名的古典乐唱片公司，像是Deutsche Grammophon、Decca、Harmonia Mundi、Teldex…等，都是?用BB5/XBD??听扬声器系统。PMC是一家?造高品质专业?听扬声器以及Hi-End家用高传真扬声器的英国公司。不过15年的时间，PMC已经将其触角由原先的专业市场延伸到所有的领域。包括音乐?作、广播录音间、户外广播车、电影配乐录音、音乐后?等。除此之外，PMC在英国和美国的高品质消费性高传真以及家庭电影院市场中也十分积极经营，甚至在美国也建立了PMC分公司。
PMC的特色
PMC独特的销售卖点在于它所有的监听监听声器 (从最大型的旗舰款主动式?听系统：BB5-XBD，到最小款的DB1+) 都使用一般称??传输线式?的音箱设计，如此独特的设计呈现出清晰辨识、高解析度、音域宽广的频率响应。除此之外, PMC全系列产品专有的驱动单体、电子零组件及音箱结构都提供了无懈可击的声音精确性和动态范围。
杰出成就
PMC 也是少数几家公司之一，因?其优异及专业录音品质的杰出贡献而荣获美国艾美奖。同时，PMC也参与过无数部家喻户晓的电影原声带配乐 ?作 ，像是：逃出魔幻纪、Patriot Games、铁达尼号、轰天炮4、ID4、海底总动员、芝加哥、不可能的任务I & II、鬼眼、未来战士3、蜘蛛人1~3集、猿人袭地球、金?尤物、魔盗皇鬼盗船-加勒比亚海盗……等都在名单之列。在全世界许多顶尖的录音室和音乐后制公司等专业领域里，大多都有PMC产品的身影。现今，PMC的使命就是拉近专业录音 市场与家用Hi-Fi市场间的距离。他们相信一对好的扬声器应该能够毫无渲染的，忠实传达出作曲家、演奏者以及录音工程师最纯净的意念。

The combination of knowledge and a life-long passion for the music led to the production of PMC’s first product ? the BB5-A ? an active main studio monitor. This design was snapped up by BBC Maida Vale and Metropolis Mastering and remains the world’s reference, used by Stevie Wonder’s Wonderland Studio, Prince, Hospital HDTV Broadcast London and for renowned classical labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Harmonia Mundi.
PMC are one of the very few companies who have been awarded an Emmy? for their contribution to recording excellence. With film, it would be easier to list the blockbuster movies which did not use PMC during the process of music production and post, but titles include: Titanic, Die Another Day, Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean and many more.
PMC reigns supreme throughout the leading mastering houses, broadcasters and much of the professional world.
Philosophy
PMC’s design philosophy is quite a simple one, to design the ideal loudspeaker solution with the highest resolution possible without colouration and distortion. This supreme level of resolution is derived through unequalled R&D into (ATL?) Advanced Transmission Line Loudspeaker design and drive unit technology.
We believe a good loudspeaker should be able to relay the purest intentions of the artist and give the listener the ultimate audio experience.
Peter Thomas ? Founder
In 1990 Peter left his job as an engineer at BBC’s Maida Vale music studios after selling them his first creation, the BB5 loudspeaker system. Adrian Loader, his business partner and former engineer at Bauch then went on with Peter to form the Professional Monitor Company, PMC. Their next project was the LB1, a more manageable sized monitor released in 1992, followed by the AB1/2, the TB1/2… the list goes on!
Starting off in the professional audio industry, branching out to the consumer market and now more recently involved in custom installation, the company’s ethic instilled by Peter and Adrian in creating specialist products has continued through every new design. Unique electronics, proprietary drive units and cabinet engineering all contribute to unrivalled tonal accuracy, clarity and dynamic range. PMC’s innovative Advanced Transmission Line Technology (ATL?) monitors can now be found in film sound recording studios, broadcast companies, postproduction and audio mastering facilities, living rooms, restaurants, museums and shops.
Miles Roberts - Managing Director
Miles Joined PMC on 2002 bringing with him some 20 years of experience in the audio industry. After cutting his cloth as a technical engineer with Soundcraft in the early 80’s Miles moved into technical sales and then management roles. He has experience of all aspects of professional audio including Studio production, Broadcast Sound in Radio and Television, Post production and Film mixing. His Management skills included roles as UK Sales Manager for Studer, Head of Sales for Solid State Logic and Managing Director of Euphonix Europe.
